14 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 10, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com Magic of Christmas coming to visit Bronte-area homes The Magic of Christmas will be visiting homes in Bronte this holiday season, in the form of Robert and Lyn Budnikas. From Nov. 9 - Dec.17 The Magic of Christmas Fundraising Campaign for the Chum City Christmas Wish will be going door-to-door to households in the Bronte area collecting toys, cash, cheques and anything else that people are willing to donate to the charity. This is the second year that Robert and Lyn have had this campaign up and running. "Our goal is to raise $ 5,000," said Robert. "We raised $ 3,500 last year; this year we've upped our goal to $5,000." Robert is a real estate agent originally from Brampton, but is moving into the Bronte area. He believes in getting involved with the community. "Being a real estate agent, we've always done charity work. I always take a look at it from a community standpoint. Real estate agents should really serve the community and not themselves," said Robert. Robert and his wife will be visiting 3,600 houses during the campaign and have sent out cards to the residents letting them know that they will be coming door- to-door to collect donations from those who wish to do so. Robert said that he would really like to bring awareness about this charity to the Oakville area and explained how he would like for those who can to give to those in need. "We can all have a Christmas," said Robert. " If everybody just remembers about the kids that are out there that aren't having a Christmas. "I think everybody just can do more. We need to realize that it's just not about us. There's other kids out there that are less fortunate than us," he continued. "Our campaign is called the Magic of Christmas, that's why we say it. Every kid deserves to have a magical Christmas." At the end of their door-to-door campaign, a Toonie Pancake Fundraiser will be held at Licks Restaurant, 2420 Lakeshore Rd. W., from 8-11 a.m. Santa will be present for kids to have their picture taken with him, and there will also be a donation box on site for anyone who wishes to drop off a toy. Other drop-off sites include the Bronte Village Mall as well as the Oakville Dodge Dealership located at Speers Road and Third Line. A food drive is also going to be underway with donation bins set up at each location through the public library system.
