BEAVER TRAILS TO FRANCE: Cindy Blake took The Oakville Beaver with her when she and husband, Paul, toured World War I battlefields in France. She is pictured here in Coursellette where her father, Chester Arland, was injured in a battle in September 1916. Her father went off to war in 1915 at age 17 and came back in 1919. We was wounded twice once in Courcelette (1916) and again in 1918 Somme area. The wound (to the head loss of sight in one eye) was in August 1918. That put him out of commission until he was able to get passage back to Canada.
