Her name is Myrna Ronald. She is personally responsible for helping more than 200 Ugandan orphans. Her husband is a highly-respected Canadian physician who has spent more than 25 years fighting AIDS and HIV. I trust and respect them both implicitly," said Mulvale. The Oakville resident said she has met the counsellors, physicians and caregivers who are the guardians of the children. "They are volunteering their time to support these chil- dren. I also trust those who have been entrusted to implement the most important components the Ugandan elements of this program," said Mulvale. "I have met the children who are involved in this program. I've seen photos of them when they were not well. I've heard them speak of how they thought their lives were over because they were HIV positive. I've listened to their fears about life and their desire to have a good education. And, I've seen them healthy, productive and hopeful because of the support of the Uganda Orphan Fund." The cost to ensure that one child is supported through one year of secondary education through the Uganda Orphan Fund is $350, according to Mulvale. Donations are tax deductible, which means the cost is less than $1 a day. Mulvale is asking individuals on their own, with family or a group of friends, to consider supporting the fund. She's urging those who would like to make a donation to call her at 905827-6008 or to donate by making cheques payable to St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation with Uganda Orphans Fund noted on the memo line and forward it to 2511 Scotch Pine Drive, Oakville, ON L6M 4C3. Mulvale said she will personally deliver the funds to Ronald and provide donors with regular updates on the children. "We have so much and they have so little. You cannot imagine how difficult the lives of those living in extreme poverty are. No one should suffer as these people do especially when we have the means to help," she said. West, Oakville Winterize your skin Show your skin some TLC this winter. Cold, dry air and indoor heating can rob your skin of essential moisture and lead to dry, cracked, itchy and uncomfortable skin. Follow the following guidelines to keep your skin healthy and happy this winter: Moisturize early and often: Regularly apply a heavy moisturizer like Nexcare advanced skin cream several times daily to seal in the moisture and replenish rough, cracked or scaly skin. Cracked but not broken: If the skin around your hands and nails tends to crack, brush-on polymers like Nexcare skin crack care is like an emergency first aid kit for your hands. Simply brush it on to create a protective coating to help your hands breathe and heal. Cold and flu defense: Most cold and flu viruses are spread by direct contact so it's important to wash your hands thoroughly several times a day. An antibacterial gel is an effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water to ward off germs and bacteria. Don't forget the sunscreen: While it may feel cold outside, snow reflects sunlight, doubling the damaging effect of the rays. Wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 at all times when outside. - News Canada We would like to welcome Bonnie & Eduardo 171 SPEERS RD. #19, OAKVILLE Gift Certificates Available OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri. 9:30-9:00pm, Wed. 9:30-6:00pm, Sat. 9:00-5:00, Sun. 12:00-5:00pm EYELASH EXTENTIONS AVAILABLE! www.hairchateau.com (check website for new client discount) 905 338-1237 Have y u disco Have you discovered Sunse ve e disc discovered Suns s Suns Sunset p Gift Certificates Av l bl Gif Certificates Available Gift Certificates Available Gif t Certificates Available ift if Cer tifi ate Ava ertificates Availa rtificates tifi tificates fica es fic ficate Career Opportunities Available insalon.ca OF $20.00 nical F Tech any en you service wh Ad! bring this er offer. th Not valid wi any oth Financing A vailable 0.A.C.
