He snapped these pictures and sent them to Tys Theysmeyer, Aquatic Ecologist, Royal Botanical Gardens for help in identifying the bird. According to Theysmeyer, the bird is a young Emperor Goose, who may have been blown far away from home in a storm. Normally, Emperor Geese make their homes along Canada's West Coast, the Arctic and Siberia. Adult Emperor Geese are easily identified by their white heads.
