www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday March 31, 2007 - 21 The staff that makes a difference A message from... Unit President Joan C. Gibb and Unit Manager Marg Poitras The volunteers and staff of the Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit are celebrating 50 years of service and support in our community. Thanks to the work of our volunteers and staff, and the generosity of our donors, the Canadian Cancer Society is leading the way in the fight against cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society funds research on all types of cancer, offers comprehensive and credible information on cancer, and provides support for people living with cancer, family members and friends. Through the generosity of local donors, community partners, special event participants and event sponsors, Oakville is contributing towards leading-edge cancer research. In 2006, the Society awarded $18.7 million to new cancer research projects in Ontario, including laboratory research and clinical trials. Today, more Canadians are surviving cancer thanks to research funded by the Canadian Cancer Society. A special, sincere thank you to our community newspaper, the Oakville Beaver, and its staff for over 30 years of dedication and support in helping us to raise cancer awareness in Oakville. Together. Strong. We will continue to work towards creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit Volunteers and staff.
