The new Canadian-made documentary Escape From Suburbia answers that question. A sequel to The End of Suburbia: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American Dream, Escape From Suburbia focuses on how people are making changes to cope rapidly rising energy costs and presents the latest information from energy experts. Oakvillegreen Conservation Association will host a premiere screening of Escape From Suburbia, on Thursday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at Encore Theatres on Speers Road (north side) just west of Kerr Street. Cost is $10. The screening will be followed by a facilitated discussion. Director Gregory Greene and producer Dara Rowland will be available at the screening to answer questions. The Beauty and Wellness Fair, a crossCanada event organized by Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart Canada, invites women to pamper themselves, discover a wealth of health and beauty tips, and contribute to a most worthy cause in the process. The Fair will be set up at over 80 participating Wal-Mart stores throughout the country, between May 30 and July 8. It will make a stop at the Oakville WalMart located at 235 Hays Blvd. on Wednesday, June 6. It will operate from noon to 6 p.m. The public will have the opportunity to visit the many kiosks themed around health and beauty, skin care and cosmetic items. They can even take time out for a free hand massage and refreshments. Visitors making the full tour of the kiosks will receive a gift bag full of sample products by Procter & Gamble, which along with Wal-Mart will be donating $1 to the Children's Miracle Network for each gift bag it hands out.
