Appleby's Chapel was the scene of the traditional Luminary Ceremony as darkness fell upon the all-night event that raised $485,000 and counting, for the Canadian Cancer Society, Oakville Unit. Earlier in the evening the Halton Regional Police Pipe Band led the Survivors' Victory Lap to officially begin the relay at 7 p.m.As cancer survivors, young and old, walk the Victory Lap, the Elvis Lives team, which won Best Dressed Team Award for the second year, cheers them on. The Pine Grove Public School/ Ecole Pine Grove Jugglers were among those entertaining relay participants who numbered nearly 2,000 and who camped out in the relay's Tent City.
