Michelle Baptie-Sanchez won all three of her events in the Women's-40 category at the Ontario Masters Championships in London, setting personal bests in the 100-metre, long jump and discus. Ana Maria Neilson, hampered by a work-related injury to her elbow, still managed to finish second in the Women's-45 javelin. Meanwhile, at the Legion District Championships, 14year-old Chandrika Dawkins set three new personal bests en route to placing second in the 80m hurdles, sixth in the 200m and seventh in the 100m. Colleen Hennessey, a double-finalist at last month's provincial high school championships, earned silver in the 3,000m and added a fifth in the 1,500m. Peewee Stamps 5-1 The Burlington peewee Stampeders, featuring a sizeable contingent of local players, will visit Mississauga this weekend in a game that has major playoff implications. The Stampeders (5-1) need a victory Sunday to finish second in the Central Ontario Minor Football League standings and secure a bye in the playoffs. The team, which did not play last week, is on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Huronia (16-0), Etobicoke (62-6) and Toronto (35-0) in recent action. Local talent on the Stampeders roster includes Kaleb Sang, Christian Downey, Matthew Montgomery, Caleb White, Michael Malo, Brendan Meagher, Jake Berrick, Anthony Berry, Fabian Desantis, Mikhail Joukov, William Martins, Tim O'Shaughnessy, Daniel Paradis, Zack Secord and Alex Tremblay. DEREK WOOLLAM / SPECIAL TO THE OAKVILLE BEAVER VETERAN ROOKIE: Oakville Sports Hall-of-Famer Steve Christie (19) made his Canadian Football League debut Saturday at Hamilton's Ivor Wynne Stadium, helping the Toronto Argonauts to a 30-5 rout of the host Tiger-Cats. Christie, playing in his first professional game since 2004 after a 15-year career in the National Football League, went 2-for-4 on field goal attempts in his return. The Oakville Trafalgar High School alumnus was successful on 32- and 10-yard boots, coming up short on 40- and 47-yard attempts. His CFL career, as expected, was a short-lived one, as the Argonauts activated injured kicker Noel Prefontaine for yesterday's game against the Edmonton Eskimos and released Christie.
