www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday August 24, 2007 - 27 Discover downtown Oakville's newest art gallery... Maddy J. Gallery, opening Friday, August 24 For many years, Downtown Oakville has been renowned for its myriad of exclusive shops and restaurants. Add to that an ingredient of innovative and contemporary art galleries and you have an art enthusiast's haven. Each gallery, unique in their contribution to individual artistic taste, is collectively appealing to our towne. The latest addition to Oakville's fine art galleries is `Maddy J. Gallery'. Nestled between Reynolds and Allan St. this family operated gallery opens its doors on Friday, August 24th. Owner's Yvonne and Mark Hetherman, tell an interesting story. In speaking with Mark, he tells me, "Through the 12 years of raising our children, Yvonne had a flourishing passion for art. That enthusiasm for what she loves has now resulted in operating her own gallery." Currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for Willis, a DuPont Corian® and Zodiaq® distributor, Mark proves to be the perfect business partner to support Yvonne's artistic venture. Maddy J. Gallery managed a feat, as it will feature the work of North America's number one artist, Michael Godard. Avid collectors, Yvonnne and Mark established a relationship in Las Vegas with the VP of Sales for Godard Studios who has played an integral part in structuring the gallery. "We have been a lover of his art for years and wanted to bring his work to Oakville. Michael Godard is a guaranteed draw and has a history of selling out quickly." The Hethermans second stage artist is Ryan Perry a keen favourite of theirs from Washington State. At only 20 years old, he became the foremost artist of endangered and exotic animal art in the U.S. I ask Mark, `why Oakville'? "People come from all over the world to shop in Oakville. We love it here and think it the perfect destination for our gallery." Well...lucky for Oakville. Welcome Maddy J.
