Its goal is to raise awareness about the environmental hazards of car use and to encourage people to use more sustainable modes of transportation, such as walking, biking, and riding public transit. In Oakville, GreenTrans will have a display in Centennial Square, at Oakville Central Library, as part of the Downtown Oakville Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information will be available about smog and how to be car-free. The event is hosted by the tenants of the West Oak Trails Plaza and proceeds will support Halton Women's Place, a shelter for abused women. The barbecue will feature games, face painting, hotdogs and burgers, a raffle and a free grab bag.
