Holy Trinity's junior squad, however, appears poised to threaten that trend this season. The Titans were impressive on both sides of the ball -- as well as on special teams -- in pounding the Loyola Hawks 62-0 yesterday at Trinity. Now 3-0, the Titans scored touchdowns on all of their first-half possessions, and the team has yet to surrender a point this year. Not scheduled to face Burlington powerhouse Notre Dame until the final day of the season, the Titans' most dangerous opponent these days might be themselves. According to the players, head coach Joe Moscato is taking all the precautions he can to guard against overconfidence and complaceny from a team that has now outscored its opposition 144-0. "Our schedule is going to get a lot harder," said Kyle Sanson, who scored two touchdowns yesterday and helped preserve the shutout with a sack after the Hawks had moved the ball inside the Trinity 20yard line. "We're trying not to get overconfident. Coach still runs us hard in practice, and we're still hitting hard." Running back Ashton Rochester, who also reached the end zone twice, added, "I don't think it's an issue. We're focusing on conditioning and hard work." Both members of the Oakville Invictas summer program, Sanson and Rochester credited the new rep system for the improvement in local football. So did Moscato, a coach with the Invictas. "It's helped us out. I think it's helped out a lot of Oakville teams," said Moscato, noting that the majority of his Grade 10 starters play summer football with the Invictas. "It does make a difference, for sure." Playing yesterday in front of several hundred spectators, the Titans provided plenty of excitement for their home crowd. The Titans rolled to a 62-0 victory, their third shutout win in as many games this season. the scoring with a 21-yard run, and Zack Secord added a one-yard touchdown plunge before the end of the first quarter. Trinity blew the game open with four touchdowns in the second quarter, as Silvano Ferreira pulled in a 47-yard bomb from Josh Adams, Sanson caught a 14-yard pass for a major, Rochester returned a punt 50 yards and Secord crossed the goal line on a 12-yard jaunt. The Titans opened the second half with a 85-yard kickoff return touchdown by Brandon Clarke and tacked on majors by Sanson (after a Trinity field goal attempt was blocked) and Kaleb Sang (a 40-yard interception return). David Fusco was good on eight of nine convert attempts. Trinity's defence forced a couple fumbles as well, including recoveries by Matt Hamel and Ryan Saldanha, to set its offence up with good field position throughout. A.J. Singh, Shaka Fonderson and Sanson made huge hits in the fourth quarter to snuff out Loyola's only threatening drive. "That was nice to see," Moscato said of the late stop. "It was pretty much all Grade 9s out there. Every defence strives not to get scored on, and we're pretty proud of that so far." Things will start getting tougher for the Titans in the upcoming weeks, as they visit the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils and host the Bishop Reding Royals before traveling to Notre Dame. Local runners dominate Oakville schools won six of eight team pennants in the junior portion of the Halton District School Board's Amos elementary cross-country meet, held Wednesday in Burlington.
