Janet Stachow, pianist and Oakville resident of three years, will be performing classical piano music at St. Simon's Anglican Church on Saturday, Oct. 27 to help raise money for Kerr Street Ministries (KSM). The concert begins at 8 p.m. Stachow will be joined by guest artist, Charlene Pauls, a local soprano. Ron Shantz, executive director of Kerr Street Ministries, is excited about this musical event. "It adds a timely dimension to the awareness of our new music and arts program commencing this fall," said Shantz. Stachow will be performing works by Chopin, Mozart and French composer Debussy which features the popular Clair de lune from his Suite Bergamasque. Pauls will be showing her versatility, singing French music by Canteloube and Fauré and ending with American gospel songs. "People love hearing music," said Stachow. "I remember being quite shy about performing, but now I want to share music with others. So I ended up calling the program, quite literally, Share the Music." Both Stachow and Pauls work for the Oakville Children's Choir, Associate Music Director and Senior Vocal Coach, respectively. St. Simon's Anglican Church is located at 1450 Litchfield Rd. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The suggested donation is $15. For more information call 905-4690819.
