www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 31, 2007 - 21 St. Andrew's House Tour ready to dress up for Christmas Dare it be said as trick-ortreaters knock at the door that a Christmas tradition in Oakville is right around the corner. The St. Andrew's Church Christmas House Tour is ready to throw open the doors on Dec. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Already, The Oakville Beaver has fielded calls from residents looking for information. This year's tour, the 14th biennial event, will feature 10 homes in east Oakville all dressed up in their Yuletide best thanks to designers who have gone to work on them. Once the tour is complete, "tourists" are invited to visit St. Andrew's Parish Centre at 53 Reynolds St., for a cup of tea or cider, a cookie or two and an opportunity to shop at the Christmas boutique. As has been the tradition over the years, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the local community. This year the focus will be on the seniors in the community and include SENACA Seniors Day Program, the Alzheimer Society support group and the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) Geriatric Unit. As always house tour visitors are asked to observe a few rules of etiquette -- removing shoes before touring and no strollers, cameras or video equipment are permitted in the homes. Washroom facilities are available at the Parish Centre. Each of the featured homes will be professionally decorated by renowned interior decorators and floral designers. Tickets are available from local Oakville and area merchants from Nov. 1 through Dec. 1. Tickets cost $30 and are available at the Parish Centre, by calling 905-8421830 or at www.standrewshousetour.ca. Both St. Andrew's Parish Centre, at 53 Reynolds St., and St. Andrew's Church, which was built circa 1840, at 47 Reynolds St., are traditionally decorated for the Christmas season and will also be open for viewing.
