www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday November 14, 2007 - 25 Saturday, November 17, 2007, Parade starts at 9 a.m. Thanking this year's Parade sponsors & volunteers Organized by a volunteer committee, in conjunction with the Town of Oakville and the business community, the annual Oakville Santa Claus Parade features more than 50 entries, plus costumed characters and marching bands. While the Parade is driven by a dedicated corps of local volunteers, it is only made possible through the generous support of its corporate sponsors. "Our corporate sponsors are an integral part of the Oakville Santa Claus Parade. Sponsorship funds are used to hire marching bands and rent costumes for the many costumed characters in the Parade, publicize the event, maintain Santa's float, recognize winning entries and much more," said Pam Damoff, Chair, Oakville Santa Claus Parade. "As an Oakville-based company, it was an easy decision for us to become a Gold Sponsor of the Oakville Santa Claus Parade in 2006. The Parade is an event we are proud to be associated with", said Brian Rand, President of Custom Cupola & Steeple Co. Ltd. "Not only is it great exposure for our company, we enjoy every aspect of being involved with the Parade. We're pleased to be back again in 2007 and encourage other companies to join us in supporting this wonderful Oakville Christmas tradition." The Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee wishes to thank all of this year's generous sponsors for their ongoing financial support for the Parade. In addition to the many volunteers who put together the float and walking entries, over 100 volunteers come out on Parade Day to entertain and ensure the Parade runs smoothly. The generous support of Oakville's public and private sectors and the work of so many volunteers ensures the success of the Oakville Santa Claus Parade. This year's theme is "Christmas through the Decades" to celebrate the Town's 150th Anniversary. With lots of colourful and unique float entries moving down the streets of downtown Oakville and Kerr Village and a fabulous line-up of marching bands, the Parade will put kids and kids-at-heart into the Christmas spirit. Starting at 9 am, the Parade will begin at Lakeshore Road and Reynolds, go west on Lakeshore to Kerr Street, north on Kerr and end at Kerr and Stewart Streets. Once again, Santa Claus returns with his sweetheart from the North Pole. Best known for keeping him on his toes throughout the year, Mrs. Claus herself is the Parade's Grand Marshall. Joining Mrs. Claus in the beautifully decorated Cinderella carriage is eight year old colouring contest winner Kara Francey. What a way to enjoy her first Oakville Santa Claus Parade - Kara just moved to Oakville three weeks ago! Her drawing was selected out of a total 50 that were submitted. With such an overwhelming response to the colouring contest this year, it was hard to pick just one winner. Runners-up Nicole Harris, age four, and Kezia Dick, age six, will both ride in the windows of Santa's float. We're putting life-saving AED's in more public places in your community.
