www.oakvillebeaver.com Artscene Oakville Beaver · FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2007 47 Young musicians shine The Fourth Annual Performing Arts Challenge last Saturday at Glenburnie School saw some of the region's top young vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers compete for the coveted championship trophies. All children from the community were invited to participate in the event. The performers are judged not only on singing, movement, or how well they played their instrument, but also stage presence, dress, command of the audience and more. Michaela Okumura took home first place in Vocal category, Division One, while Benjamin Quinlan came second and Olivia Quinlan took third spot. In the Vocal category, Division Two, first place went to Elizabeth Loughrey, with Heidi Porter and Christina Joynt taking second and third place. Division One of the Instrumental category was won by Natalie Stoltz, with Clarissa Skorupski coming in second and Megan Zalzal third. Sophia Stoltz won the Instrumental category division two. Sara Gribeauval came second and Emily Parsons won the third prize. In the Variety category, Killian Murphy and Jennifer Chan's flute duet took first prize with Claire Downie's Pogo Stick routine coming second.
