E. and will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. during which time, oomama will receive 10 per cent of all sales that day, when accompanied with Ten Thousand Villages coupon for oomama. Interested residents can get a coupon by going to www.oomama.org. Again, shopping at Whole Foods on Wednesday, Dec. 12 will also see a portion of sales directed to the SLF through oomama. Whole Foods Market is located at 301 Cornwall Rd., and from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. will donate five per cent of Whole Foods gross sales to SLF. Mulvale will be one of the celebrity baggers on hand at Whole Foods that day. Last year the concept of giving a day's pay to the SLF saw the foundation raise $500,000. Shopping at Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade store in downtown Oakville, means that gifts are not only unique for their recipient, but also help provide an income and a safe place to work for people, again primarily women, in Third World countries where often a woman's choice to earn income to support her family could involve only prostituting herself or her children. "Can you imagine that being your only choice?" asked Mulvale. We have choices and by making choices, we can give others the luxury of choice, said Mulvale. Alternate gift giving for the range of seasonal celebrations soon to arrive for many different faiths is another way of helping. The $Million or More campaign, working with Oakville Beaver artistic director Steve Nease and Sheridan College, is printing gift cards that will bear a cartoon of Nease's as a souvenir and an explanation that a donation in the recipient's name has been made to the SLF. Mulvale said the $Million or More campaign is working with many community groups to offer people the option of shopping in a way that not only benefits their gift's recipient, but someone in the Third World, too. The cards will be made available at various faith communities this Sunday. They are also available at Soleil Salon and Spa, 267 Lakeshore Rd. Mulvale said she anticipates Oakville residents will define it in various ways over the coming campaign. It will likely be done in every size from the largest of gifts to the decision of a family to make dinner, make popcorn, rent a movie and donate the difference between a restaurant dinner, theatre trip and popcorn to the SLF. "We are a people of choice. By making generous choices, we can give others choice," she said.
