www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 7, 2007 - 23 Chance to take time to enjoy the season Time-Out for the Art of Joy, Love, Hope and Peace is a day of art and poetry called Advent Reflections at St. Jude's Anglican Church. Tomorrow, Saturday, St. Jude's will be open to everyone in the community to enjoy a time of quiet, peaceful reflection leading up to Christmas. Inspiration will be provided by the work of local artists and poets, and the assistance of ancient spiritual practices. The event is non-denominational. Advent Reflections is unique in that the content of the art and poetry has been chosen not for literally representing the Christmas story. Instead, the highlighted works illuminate the ideas of joy, love, hope and peace, which are the themes of the four weeks leading up to Christmas in the time known as Advent. This is an opportunity to experience the work of people of diverse perspectives and to connect with people of different beliefs while expanding perceptions of joy, love, hope and peace. Residents are invited to spend time in personal refection within the church, and in the garden surrounding the church, where poetry will be on display for the entire month. Tomorrow, there will also be a Labyrinth present in St. Jude's church hall, for those who wish to experience that ancient path to prayer and meditation. Advent is a time of expectation, of waiting, of contemplation and of hope, so St. Jude's hopes people will take time to enjoy the season. St Jude's Anglican Church is located at 160 William St. (at Thomas). The doors will be open from noon to 4 p.m. The church, hall and garden are wheelchair accessible. All are welcome.
