For the cost of $15 per child parents can leave their children for three hours in a play centre equipped with the latest in video game entertainment where they will be closely supervised by staff from the YMCA of Oakville. This service is available for children between the ages of four and 10. When it came to the construction of the theatres, the designers noted they spared no expense to give movie fanatics the ultimate escape from reality. This includes extra thick theatre walls, which make it impossible for guests to be disturbed by what's going on in the theatre next door, and rows of seats that are 18 inches higher than the previous row to eliminate viewing obstructions. "We have wall-to-wall, floorto-ceiling screens, which are curved to ensure that there is a perfect visual for everyone no mater where they sit in the auditorium," said Bill Tishler, vicepresident Design and Construction, Cineplex Entertainment. "We have varied barrier-free seating for our guests in wheelchairs and those with special needs. We certainly give them as much opportunity as we can to sit anywhere they'd like along the barrier free path." While popcorn is available, those who want a different movie snack will have plenty to choose as the concession area features Chaqwa specialty coffees and teas, Pizza Pizza and New York Fries kiosks. A Yogen Fruz frozen dessert bar with a selection of no-fat, low-fat yogurts and premium ice creams can also be found in the concession area. For those in a rush to catch a flic, the complex is equipped with `fastlane service' so guests can order their food and beverages at the automated kiosk and proceed to the fastlane counter where their order will be ready and waiting. Not even the complex's 10 washrooms have been left untouched by the innovative hands of the designers. They have installed televisions into the walls opposite the long trough-like sinks, to give moviegoers something to watch while they wash their hands. The second level of the complex offers the ultimate movie experience with three VIP auditoriums featuring service to your comfortable leather theatre seat and reserved seating. Outside the theatres the VIP area provides guests with a licensed lounge complete with an appetizer menu, private box office and concession stand, all under the glow of a great crystal chandelier. This entertainment experience is offered for $5 extra, but only to patrons 19 years of age and over. For those residents with an entertainment enthusiast in the family, a retail store called XTRAS may provide that much-needed chance for some holiday shopping. The store offers guests a selection of DVDs, CDs, books, magazines and movie collectibles including posters, action figures, T-shirts and more. The box office opens at 3 p.m. and will be showing such movies as: The Golden Compass, The Mist, Beowulf, Enchanted, Bee Movie, No Country for Old Men, Hitman, Fred Claus, August Rush and American Gangster.
