34 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 14, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Gospel concert fundraiser for Carol Hamilton Basketball Foundation A Christmas Gospel Concert tomorrow (Saturday) will raise funds for The Carol Hamilton Basketball Foundation. The foundation is in memory of Canadian national basketball player Carol Hamilton, an Oakville resident who died of cancer four years ago. "She left a huge legacy behind her," said her father, Glen, who added Carol scored 67 points in one game, a record that has yet to be broken. "We're trying to get some kids playing basketball in her name." This summer, Glen and his wife Lystra will start the Carol Hamilton Junior Basketball Camp, a two-week long camp for basketball players. The camp is dedicated to the development of youth on the court, providing children with a chance to enhance their basketball skills, and giving them access to the equipment required. Carol trained at a home court, Glen said, where she also helped kids out with their skills in her spare time. "We're trying to keep that going," said Glen. "After weeping for her for so many years now, we're ready." All money raised for the Carol Hamilton Junior Basketball camp Fund will assist in sending kids to the basketball camp.
