16 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday December 15, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com A Child's Christmas We asked Mrs. Smith's and Mrs. Kwasnik's Grade four class from St. Matthew's School to submit letters about Christmas, and Mrs Hozjan's Junior Kindergarten class, from Pope John Paul II Catholic School to submit creative Christmas pictures. We received so many wonderful, submissions and have published as many as we could, exactly as they were submitted to us. These stories and pictures are a great way to get in the holiday spirit and understand just what Christmas means to the children of Oakville. Enjoy! The Best Christmas Buddy's Christmas Eve Once in the North Pole there was a reindeer named Buddy. Buddy had no friends because, he has a blue nose. Every other reindeer laughed at him. It make Buddy very upset. On Christmas eve, Buddy was finaly sick of it, so he went out to search for a friend. He went through a huge blizzard until he found himself on ice. Suddenly he heard a loud crack. Buddy fell right into the water. He followed an eerie green glow through the water and fell asleep. Buddy woke up to find himself on an arctic island. He saw reindeer with red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple noses. He went up to a green nosed girl deer. "Hi, my name is Buddy" "Hi, my name is lime" the green nosed deer said. Buddy and Lime went back to the North Pole. Santa let Lime join the other reindeer. And no one teased Buddy again. By Claire Murphy "Rachel, wake up!" exlaimed Rachels Dad. "It's Christmas morning!" "What!?" exlaimed Rachel and she jumped out of bed. "I mean, it is?" Rachel asked in a much calmer voice. "It is" replied her dad as he leaded Rachel downstairs. "Merry Christmas" said Rachels mom happily. "Merry Christmas" mumbled Rachel. She was very tired. Rachel walked over to the Christmas tree and gave her parents their presents. Then, it was time to open her present. "A dollhouse!" exlaimed Rachel happily. "I've always wanted this dollhouse!" "It even come with the furniture and people except..." Rachel wandered off. "There is no bed for the parents." "We know" said Rachels parents. "We couldn't find the set for the parents bed." "Oh" said Rachel, disappointed. A while later, in April, Rachels mom and dad gave Rachel a present, and guess what she got. The bed for the parents! Rachel was full of joy. "Thanks" said Rachel. Even though it wasn't Christmas at the time, it still had been the best Christmas ever. By Rachel Radice Dear Santa How are you? Well I hope you are ok because it is almost Christmas! I am so excited. How is Blitzen? How is Mrs. Clause? Everyone is good in my family. Now I have a story for you! Once upon a time Lexia and her cousin Jordan wanted to go skating the day before Christmas eve. So Lexia and Jordan the two head elves went to go ask Santa. So Santa said Ok. The next day they set off to find the best ice patch. The two elves searched and searched all day long until they found it. But by the time they got there it was night time. So they camped there for the night. They woke up in the morning, got there skates on and started skating but all of a sudden they heard a loud crack! The ice started to break Lexia started to sink! "Help" Lexia cried. "I'll go get Santa" replied Jordan. Jordan ran as fast as he could until he reached the workshop. "Santa, Santa" Lexia is starting to sink in the ice patch!" Santa and Jordan hopped in the sleight and drove as fast as they could. Then Santa reached out and grabed Lexia. "Thanks Santa" Lexia called. When they got back Jordan won a medal for doing the right thing. That's the end of my story. By Lexia Khan Christmas Eve One Chrismas Eve I still wasn't asleep. It was 1 minute till midnight and then I herd something trotting on the roof! I ran down the stairs as quiet as my feet could, and then I saw him. It was Santa Clause in the flesh! With everything, the chubby belly, the black belt, the sot covered boots and the big, puffy hat. He just put my present under the tree. It hade long, glittering ribbons and a giant, shiny bow. But then he saw me and whispered "Hey, you come with me back to the North Pole, I'll bring you back home." So I followed Santa back up on the roof and jumped into his shiny, red sleigh and we went to the North Pole. It was cold so we went inside and I met lost of little elfs. Then I saw the presents being made for next years Christmas. Then I had to go back so we got back in the sleigh and went back to my house. Then I went back in my house and went to bed.
