Old Oakville Market 905.815.8777 "Using Communication To Build Better Communities" WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2008 40 Pages $1.00 (plus GST) Bronte GO commuters will have to grin and park it By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A pair of Bronte residents attempting to rectify a congestion problem at the Bronte GO Station received a dose of disappointment after being told by the mayor that there is no immediate solution. Laura Sheremeta and Ruth Wright met with Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and Town Councillors Alan Johnston, Ralph Robinson, Allan Elgar and Roger Lapworth before Christmas to discuss the situation, which Sheremeta and Wright feel is continuing to deteriorate. In particular, Sheremeta and Wright are concerned about people parking in the laneways as a result of overcrowding in the parking lot. "People are parked on the wrong side of the yellow line right where the stop sign is. Then you've got a small laneway to get out and you'll have cars parked there too so you can't see to the right and you can't see to the left," said Sheremeta. "So, you're kind of taking your life in your hands sometimes because when everybody empties out (of the GO train) we're all in a panic to get out. They have to get home, they have kids to get to so you might turn left and get hit by somebody coming in to catch a GO Train or when you're turning left by someone who is whipping out of the station." Sheremeta said one man has had his side mirror sheered off because of the Inside Living.....................................9 Real Estate...........................13 Automotive..........................29 Artscene...............................31 Sports...................................35 Classified.............................38 Full Delivery: Stoney Creek Furniture Partial Delivery: Ashley Furniture, JYSK, The Bay, Part Source, Black's Photo, Staples Business Depot, Home Depot For home delivery & customer service call (905) 845-9742 Mon., Tues. and Thurs. 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Wed. 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Fri. 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat 10 a.m.-3 p.m. NEW SUBSCRIPTIONS call (905) 845-9742 or subscribe online @ www.oakvillebeaver.com DEREK WOOLLAM / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER See Mayor page 3 "We will save you time and money!" · Wood & Vinyl Shutters, Supplied & Installed · High Quality at Affordable Prices · Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed · Serving Oakville with Shop at Home Service Authorized Vinylbilt Dealer Shop at Home Service FREE www.shuttersetc.ca
