Police said that shortly after 10:15 p.m. four men, two of whom were armed with handguns, entered the store located at 1122 Dorval Dr. One man confronted the lone employee behind the counter and ordered him to open the cash register. The employee did as he was told, after which the man assaulted him and knocked him to the ground. A second man then went behind the counter and assisted the first in stealing an undisclosed amount of cash along with cigarettes, lottery tickets and phone cards. Police said the other two men stood by the front door and kept watch. With the robbery complete, the men left the store, fled in an unknown direction and remain at large. The employee was shaken, but did not require medical attention. "They pointed their guns right at "They pointed their guns right at me. This was the first time in my life that a gun was pointed at me. I was very scared and nervous." Robbery victim, Oakville Min-A-Mart me," said the employee, who requested not to be identified. "This was the first time in my life that a gun was pointed at me. I was very scared and nervous." The employee noted that his assault might have been the result of a communication problem with the robbers. "He asked me something speaking very fast with a special accent and I couldn't understand what he wanted. He threw my hat on the ground and still I didn't understand and then he pulled my leg out and I fell on my back," he said. After studying the behaviour of the men, police believe they are responsible for a string of robberies this month with previous robberies taking place at an Oakville Hasty Market on Friday, Jan. 25 and at a Mac's Milk on Sunday, Jan. 13. "The descriptions are similar, the way they're going about their business, they seem to have the same MO all the time and they're stealing the same things, cash, cigarettes, lottery tickets and phone cards," said Sgt. Brian Carr, Halton Police Public Affairs Officer. "The one guy always seems to jump the counter and the assaults, while not being severe, are enough to get their for the 2008/2009 school year.
