34 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday April 9, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com AGLUKARK HEADLINES BENEFIT CONCERT: Oakville resident and Juno award winner Susan Aglukark is headlining a charity concert for Halton Family Services (HFS). The benefit concert is slated for Saturday, May 31 at the Meeting House, 2700 Bristol Circle. Proceeds will support HFS, and executive director Nancy Brown says community support of this event is crucial for the organization. Canadian singer Kelita will open the show at 7:30 p.m., performing some of her hit songs to warm up the crowd. Award-winner and social awareness activist, Aglukark will be taking the stage to sing and help raise support and awareness for HFS. "We are very excited to have Susan," said Brown. "Her music speaks to the suffering of families not only to her Native Inuit in the Far North, but here in our own community. She's a great example of a woman who has endured trauma and has triumphed over it." HFS is a non-profit organization, established in 1954 and funded by four United Ways in Halton.
