"All of them were overwhelmingly supportive," said Leung. "All of them had either already donated through other channels or donated certificates or cash to us." This crusade began when Leung was struck with a desire to help after reading about the scale of the tragedy the earthquake has brought to China. "I saw this one picture of a soldier and he was lining up children's bags after a school had collapsed. Each of those bags represented a child who had died," said Leung. "It really affected me, seeing all these people fighting for their lives day by day and I just felt I couldn't sit here and go back to my life while these people are dying. These people are just like you and I. They had lives. They had families. I just think we have to help." Approaching her science teacher Michele Murray, Leung floated the idea of raising money for the earthquake victims. A brainstorming session with Abbey Park Principal Regan Heffernan yielded the idea of approaching the Chinese restaurants, which Leung ran with. "A lot of people have been really hit by this tragedy," said Leung. "Right now people in China and everywhere else have just been contributing, contributing and I feel very fortunate that we can be a part of this great movement of people. This great effort to help." Anyone interested in donating to the Abbey Park `Great Wall of Hope' can call Leung on her cell phone at 647-406-2548.
