www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday August 29, 2008 - 37 Cru rallies for big win over Scottish Sometimes it's not how you start, but how you finish. That was true for the Oakville Crusaders first men's rugby team last weekend, surrendering 17 of the game's first 20 points in a showdown against Toronto Scottish before rallying for a 44-24 rout at Crusader Park. The victory improved the Crusaders' record to 7-3-1, good for second spot in the Marshall Premiership. Toronto sits right behind Oakville with a 7-4 mark, with Aurora (8-2-1) leading the division. Oakville is not scheduled to play again until Sept. 6, when it visits the Toronto Nomads. The Crusaders will then face Aurora Sept. 13 and Brampton Sept. 20 to close out the regular season. Shepley closing in on LPGA card A longshot to earn her LPGA Tour card as recently as a couple weeks ago, Jessica Shepley's chances have gotten better. Much better. The local golfer is sixth on the Duramed FUTURES Tour money list with one official event remaining in the season. Shepley's goal this year was to finish in the money list's top five, earning automatic exemption onto the LPGA Tour next season. However, following an amendment to the LPGA Constitution earlier this month, the top 10 finishers on the FUTURES Tour money list will earn their cards, placing the 25-year-old Shepley in very good stead as she prepares for the ILOVENY Championship next week in Albany, N.Y. Since 1999, a total of 37 players have earned LPGA membership by finishing among the Duramed FUTURES Tour's top season money winners. From 1999-2002, the top three players were awarded LPGA membership. This was expanded to the top five in 2003. The Duramed FUTURES Tour is the official developmental tour of the LPGA.
