Bill was the son of the late Arthur and Helen Holmes of Toronto. Beloved husband of Marion nee Frost. Bill and Marion were happily married for 56 years. Bill graduated from Assumption College with his B.A. He taught at St. Mary's Catholic School in Brampton, Sacred Heart S.S. in Walkerton, T. A. Blakelock in Oakville and taught and worked in Administration his last 21 years at Humber College. After retirement Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, sailing on his boat the "SEMLOH", and working part-time at HOLMAR. Bill was the past commander and trainer at the Oakville Power and Sail Squadron. Bill was a humble, generous man who put everyone's needs ahead of his own. If you knew Bill you loved Bill. Bill succumbed to his illness after a brave battle with cancer. He died at home with his loving family at his bedside. Special thanks to Dr. Mike Foster, Dr. Phillips, Dr. Strang and the wonderful staff on 2E at Joseph Brant Hospital, and the palliative care team through CCAC. Pre-deceased by Howard, her beloved husband of 63 years, in June 2005. Catherine is survived by her five children: Peter (Carol-Ann), Seanah, Paul (Deborah), Anne and Janet (Dennis), her grandchildren: Michael (Stephanie), Steven, Kevin (Natalie), Brian, the late Katherine, David, Alison and Lesley, as well as her great-grandchildren: Christian and Taylor. Catherine was devoted to her husband and children, taking pride in their accomplishments and offering unwavering suppor t in their more difficult times. In her last days she exhibited the courage and good humour that exemplified the way she met all of life's challenges. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to Dr. John Scott Hall and the staff of Cedarvale Lodge in Keswick, Ontario, whose kindness and profess i o n a l i s m we r e s u c h a c o m fo r t t o Catherine and her children.
