Just when we think Oakville has it all...along comes the originality in choice of two unrelated businesses under one unique company umbrella. It all began with two local entrepreneurial women looking for something their community did not offer... Lystra Gibbs-Hamilton, originator of Onika, says, "There was a demand in Oakville for black and ethnic beauty supplies." Having dreamed to own a beauty shop, Lystra took her vision one step further by providing wigs and extensions plus facial creams and body lotions intended for the untapped ethnic market. "My beauty products are top of the line, created for all women of hair and skin texture and colour." Having filled an important gap in the Oakville retail, says Gibbs-Hamilton, "I could not have done it without Shelley." Shelley Kobelsky also had a dream. Upon intense research, Shelley recognized that one must travel out of Oakville to purchase the `all the rage' E-Bike. Making this her choice of business, it was upon meeting with Lystra that their mutual entrepreneurial endeavours could be achieved. Requiring a large space to showcase a sleek selection of E-Bikes, the ladies secured a 2600 sq.ft. space and opened their business 3 short weeks ago. With climbing gas prices, Electric bikes are a promising alternative form of urban transportation. Offering the popular Condor and Raptor series, "The bikes are moped Oakville's gets two innovative, new stores Onika Hair and Beauty Supplies and Halton E Bikes Ltd. sized and run on an average of 32 km/hr and can be driven up to 50 km, says Kobelsky." An obvious ECO-friendly choice, "If you're 16 or older, recharge your battery, put on a helmet...and you're ready to go!" Whatever personal want brings you to this distinctive store, rest assured that Lystra or Shelley will give you the best in customer service and product. After all, it was built on a dream.
