Predeceased by his beloved wife Betty, after 62 years of marriage and their daughter Pamela. Loving father to children: Ren (Marion), Jamie (Barbara), Ian, Elizabeth Jennings (Rob) and Barbara. Loving grandfather to Christie Henderson-Biggar (Kirk), Sarah Henderson (Wayne Molinski), Sarah Rimmington, Graeme Henderson (Trish), Scott Henderson, Anne Henderson (Jason Rosborough), Julie Henderson, Marcus Madott Henderson, Tory Jennings (Andy Plunkett), Graeme Jennings (Erin Deyle). Loving great-grandfather to Charlie, Finlay, Duncan Biggar and Maggie Plunkett. Ren was a Canadian by choice, born May 1,1918 in Samarai, New Guinea, then an Australian protectorate. Ren came to Canada in 1940 to train under the Commonwealth Air Training Program during which period he met Betty. After active service in Britain with the Royal Australian Air Force as a fighter pilot, he was discharged in Sydney, Australia. He returned to Canada to marry Betty and they resided in Port Colborne where they raised their family. Ren took over operation of the family shoe factory, Knoll Shoe Limited and operated Vaughan Seed Company in Welland. He completed his working career with the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce in Ottawa and subsequently Toronto. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Dr. Snyder, Dr. Mau for their direction and care and to the palliative staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital who made Dad's final days comfortable. Flowers are gratefully declined but a donation to the St. Jude's Anglican Church Memorial Garden Fund, 160 William Street, Oakville, Ontario L6J 1C5 would be much appreciated by the family. Erna showed all who came to know her how to maintain grace in the face of the most difficult of times. She was an avid reader who could never get enough books. Obituary Obituary TOEWATER, Leona Erskine (nee Nesbitt)- Leona passed away peacefully at The Oakville Seniors in Bronte on Thursday Feb 19, 2009 in her 88th year. Loving mother of three daughters, the late Christine Bell of Burlington, Kathy Guiry of Stratford and Julie Alfred of Oakville. Her last surviving brother Gordie Nesbitt (Elsie) of Orillia will always remember Leona in his heart. Nanny will be fondly remembered by her 6 grandchildren (David, Michael, Jonathan, Kyle, Ashley and Charlene) and 5 great grandchildren. Leona had requested no visitation or funeral services and her family simply wish you to remember her sweet smile and her kind and giving heart.
