It will be held at Revolution Health and Fitness at 1011 Upper Middle Rd. E. at 8 a.m. Individuals are asked to ride for at least one hour. The Ride is a six-hour spinning event that last year, saw a group of compassionate individuals come together and raise enough money to buy food to feed the 35 orphaned children living at Rafiki in Tanzania, East Africa for one year. "It has helped them not only survive, but thrive," says organizer Catherine Mulvale. "They are healthier, happier and have a renewed hope for the future because people half a world away care." "We've come a long way in 26 months from the crowded shack that was falling down," said Mulvale. "Rafiki has become a shelter of hope for children who have lost everything." The goal for the 2009 ride is to raise enough money to feed the orphaned children for another year. It's hoped each rider will raise $100. Staff and students from Pope John Paul II Catholic Elementary School, the Oakville Strikers as well as individuals are signed up.
