Oakville's Victoria Hayes, Christine Reidy and Deirdre away at Christmas from pancreatic cancer." For comedians Elliott and DiGiovanni, returning to host this year's comedy event seemed a natural fit. Both participated last fall in a Girls Night Out event in Bermuda, as a direct result of last year's fundraiser. "The feedback from the Weekend to End Breast Cancer Girl's Night Out show was so positive, touching and encouraging, that it seemed like such a logical choice to put together another event," said Elliott, whose busy year included a gala at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, as well as shooting a pilot for a show with the Comedy Network. "This year we're adding a third comic (to be announced) to jam pack the show with even more jokes. As for material, anything goes: from relationships to cats to cars." "Last year was so much fun; I just know that this year is going to be even better," said DiGiovanni, who co-hosted the Genies with Sandra Oh Debra DiGiovanni Thomas are again organizing the evening and are participating in the 2009 Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk, Sept. 11-13. The trio hopes to raise more than $10,000, as Reidy and Thomas are joining in the 200-kilometre Ride to Conquer Cancer from June 12 to 14, also benefitting Princess Margaret Hospital. "The Ride to Conquer Cancer also gave me the ability to direct some of the funds raised to gastronomical cancer. This is very close to home to me as my mother passed Laurie Elliott and is now working on a comedy tour across Canada. "I lost my dear Uncle John to cancer, so I'm thrilled to be a part of any event that will help us find the cure for cancer." Since O'Finn's Irish Temper, HealthSCAN and The Inside Story Fine Lingerie are picking up the tab for the comedians, all proceeds will go directly to PMH, said Thomas.
