Instructor breaking boards for charity Mike Morningstar has an important board meeting scheduled for Saturday. The local takewon-do instructor will put his skills to the test in support of the Diabetes Hope Foundation, attempting to break 2,000 boards with various kicks, strikes and punches. The Break-A-Thon 2,000 event will begin at 11 a.m. at Hopedale Mall and will likely conclude by 3:30 p.m. This will be the seventh time since 1990 that Morningstar has broken boards to raise money for local charities. In past years, the students of Morningstar Taekwon-Do have raised more than $45,000 for such charities as the Kidney Foundation, the Lung Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and the Children's Wish Foundation. Rosehaven Homes has donated all the wood for this year's event. The Diabetes Hope Foundation is focused on providing children and adolescents with the survival tools they need to achieve success in all areas of their lives and to maintain good health in the years to come. Morningstar Taekwon-Do students will be canvasing the town this week in search of pledges. People can also donate by attending the Break-A-Thon 2,000 or by calling Morningstar Taekwon-Do at 905-847-8955. 35 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Advertorial WoW Power Walking is coming to the Running Company!
