OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, April 17, 2009 · 18 Rotary clubs host high school students at Camp Enterprise Rotary Clubs representing Oakville and Burlington are hosting the 13th annual Camp Enterprise, a program that provides senior high school students with an introduction to entrepreneurial and management careers. The program runs from April 16-19 at a 200-acre facility in north Flamborough. Fifty-four students from area high schools will have the opportunity to speak to industry professionals including Sunny Daljit and Shannon Boudjema. Program receives $20,000 funding from Rotary clubs Daljit sold more than $40 million in real estate by the age of 24 and now heads up the fastest growing real estate company in Ottawa. Boudjema has more than a dozen years of global marketing and advertising experience with brands such as Coca-Cola and Mars Chocolate. The two are among five keynote speakers who will be discussing the private enterprise system, the art of negotiation skills and insights into business concepts. The American Management Association initiated Camp Enterprise and it has since been developed and used by Rotary clubs throughout Canada and the U.S. Launched in Canada in 1976 by the Rotary Club of Toronto, th program includes panel discussions, workshops, creativity sessions, business games and team building events. The eight Rotary clubs in Oakville and Burlington fund the local program which costs $20,000 to provide meals, accommodations and basic necessities for the students, plus the cost of the speakers. Each participating high school selects three or four Grade 11 students recommended by the school's business department or guidance office to attend the camp.
