OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, August 14, 2009 · 8 Letter to the editor Residents deserve answer from the YMCA Re: Dan Ferrone terminated from the Y, Oakville Beaver, Aug. 5, 2009 I have never written a letter to the editor until this moment. After hearing of Dan Ferrone's dismissal from the YMCA I remain in shock . Knowing Dan's involvement in our community there should be no better person for that job. His integrity and spirit obviously impressed someone at the YMCA. What in less than two months could have changed? Our community deserves an answer, its members deserve an answer and most importantly Dan Ferrone deserves an answer. I am very sure who will remain standing in this sad affair. In every dealing I have had with Dan he has shown class, compassion and a focus to do the right thing. Hold your head high Mr. Ferrone you deserve to. JAMES WILSON Ferrone's dismissal saddens reader As a long-time Oakville resident, I was appalled and saddened to read the prominent and lengthy front page article in the Oakville Beaver on the termination of Dan Ferrone by the Oakville Y due to a poor fit. Dan Ferrone is a highly-regarded individual in the Oakville community who donates a large amount of time to charity and community events. Harbour Days Festival Celebrates Bronte's Historic Marine Roots Saturday Aug. 15 and Sunday August 16 The fact that the article states that the board did an extensive search, that Dan was picked out of more than 100 candidates, and now after only six weeks, it feels he is not the "right fit" certainly makes me question its human resource skills and its ability to make effective decisions on behalf of Oakville citizens.
