Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, Darryl McKenzie will take the reins of the Oakville Y as a search begins for a permanent replacement. The board is hoping to have such a replacement by early 2010. A news release issued by the YMCA on Thursday listed some of McKenzie's qualifications -- he is currently the General Manager of Support Services for YMCA Ontario and has senior strategic and operational experience. In his current role, he is responsible for working with YMCAs across the province in areas such as strategic planning and leadership development. "He is actually a resident of Barrie, but he is going to be relocating down here on a temporary basis during the time that he is Interim CEO," said Kristian Knibutat, board chair for the Oakville YMCA. "The board interviewed with Darryl and thought he would be a good candidate to help us during this interim period and we're moving forward with that."
