OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, September 9, 2009 · 14 Time to pencil in Chick Flicks @the 5 Drive-in The third annual Chick Flicks@the 5 Drive-in will be Wednesday, Sept. 16. It costs $20 a car, the tailgate party starts at 5:30 p.m. and movies begin at dusk. Proceeds will go to The Halton Women's Centre. Find out what happens when more than 250 women, a pole dancer and a John Travolta flick get together with firefighters offering to wash the car for charity. The onscreen fare will include Grease and The Proposal. Last year, the popular event raised more than $5,000 and hopes are high to beat that amount at this year's event. Chick Flicks @ the 5 Drive-In was created by Halton-based entrepreneur, Vicky Ratcliffe and her team of volunteers are hard at work preparing a fun-packed pre-movie event complete with Pole Dancing by Aradia Fitness, tarot and angel card readings, belly dancing lessons and back by popular demand, Halton region firefighters who wash cars in exchange for a donation. It's fun for the whole family with prizes and a barbecue and more. "This event has become a tradition for many attendees. I start getting calls back in April from people wanting to know when it's being held again. "They want to make sure they clear their calendars," said Ratcliffe. Chick Flicks is popular with families, who know they're benefitting a charity as well as watching familyfriendly movies. "It's rare today that you can find an event where for $20 per car, plus the cost of snacks, you can bring your family and have a wonderful time," said Ratcliffe.
