25 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, November 6, 2009 Concert of Hope Nov. 12 They have brought hope to so many and on Thursday, Nov. 12, that message of hope is coming to Oakville. Charles Mulli, his wife Esther and their children will be taking part in a Concert of Hope at the Operating Engineers Banquet Hall and Conference Centre, located at 2245 Speers Rd., where they will raise awareness of the plight of Kenya's street children and thank all who have helped them in their past efforts. Charles Mulli began helping street children in 1989 when the self-made millionaire sold all that he owned to provide shelter, clothing, education, food, faith and love to thousands of children who were abandoned by society and living in horrific conditions in the slums of Kenya. At first, Charles' family believed he had gone mad, but eventually they, too, got on board with his cause and to date more than 5,000 children have been helped by the Mully Children's Family Charitable Foundation. More than 2,000 children are currently being cared for at the foundation's facilities throughout Kenya. The event, which is being carried out in partnership with Harvest Bible Chapel, will begin at 7 p.m. Those who attend will be treated to the hauntingly beautiful singing of a group of these rescued children who will also perform unique dances, give martial arts demonstrations and more. The children will also talk about how they were rescued from lives of poverty and despair simply because one man and his family decided it was the right thing to do. Admission to the event is free, however, a silent auction is being held in support of the foundation's growing educational needs. Early registration for the event is required and can be done by calling Harvest Bible Chapel at 905-827-4157. ...for our Veterans Merry Maids is a residential cleaning company that has been serving the Oakville community for over ten years.
