Darryl McKenzie, the interim president and CEO, has been asked to stay on permanently in the position. He said Tuesday morning he was thrilled with the appointment. "I'm very excited and I think we have a great team here of staff and volunteers and I look forward to working with them in the years to come," he told The Oakville Beaver. "I've enjoyed my last three months in Oakville and it has been great getting to know the community and meet other leaders and other agencies that support the Oakville community and it's been a very positive experience. I look forward to strengthening those relationships." McKenzie came to the YMCA in September to temporarily take over as president and CEO. He said he didn't expect the position to become permanent, but added that he is pleased with the development. Claiming feminism had ruined his life, Lepine walked through the doors of an engineering classroom and ordered all the men to leave before opening fire on the women with a semi-automatic rifle. Lepine then stalked the halls of the college killing several more women before finally turning the gun on himself. In total, 14 women were murdered during what The Ontario Municipal Board's (OMB) decision may affect the construction of the 900-megawatt power plant proposed for Oakville -- and it may not. The board released a split decision Monday regarding the validity of two planning measures passed by the Town in March, which restrict the construction or expansion of power plants with a capacity greater than 10-megawatts. Ford of Canada and TransCanada appealed these items to the OMB because they interfere with TransCanada's plans to construct a 900-megawatt gas-fired power plant on the Ford-owned lands of 1500 Royal Windsor Dr. The appellants referred to the measures as an 11th-hour action by the Town aimed at restricting development rights and interfering with the Ontario Power Authority's (OPA) mandate of securing a power generation site. Drawing on evidence presented during a week-long hearing in October, board member Aristotle Christou chose to uphold Interim Control Bylaw 2009-065, which restricts power plant construction See Shockwaves page 2 See Mayor page 13 SERVING OAKVILLE FOR 26 YEARS! 175 Wyecroft Rd.
