The kettle campaign is the local Salvation Army's largest fundraising effort of the year as funds from it are used to provide the complete operation of its Community & Family Services Ministry for 2010. All funds stay in the community. The annual Kettle Drive began in late November and nine kettle locations operated daily until European Engineering Combined Christmas Eve. Lots of people helped out. With Traditional Workmanship There were volunteers from the Salvation Army and the community, who took a turn watching over the kettles. Some local councillors also took a turn. "Building on the Former Oakville mayor Ann Brightest Ideas Around Glass" Mulvale manned the kettle at Hopedale Mall on Saturday, Dec. 19, just after she took her turn carrying the Olympic Torch as it passed through town. Mulvale took her torch with her to drum up business at the kettle and returned to do the same, again with torch in hand, on Christmas Eve at the kettle at Oakville Place. Donations came in large and, more often, small denominations at the malls, as well as the Superstore, Wal-Mart and at four LCBO locations.
