The event features dinner, dancing, casino and live and silent auctions as nearly 300 guests come together at the Oakville Conference Centre at Bronte/Wyecroft roads from 6-11 p.m. Funds raised during this event support On the Tip of the Toes Foundation, a Canadian foundation that provides therapeutic adventure expeditions for teens living with cancer. The costs associated with each expedition are, on average, $5,000. With the support of friends, family and the community, this charitable event raises more than $20,000, making it possible for four teenagers to participate in the experience. Now in its seventh year, the event has raised nearly $100,000. Cupids Against Cancer draws its inspiration from the bravery and strength of 17-year-old Katy McDonald of Burlington, who lost her battle with cancer in 2004. Cupids Against Cancer founders, Ray and April Ganong of Oakville were Katy's uncle and aunt. Tickets can be purchased online for $80 each or $150 per couple, student tickets cost $50 (16 years and older).
