Through Demo, Dine and Donate, renowned chefs from the Toronto area are spearheading events over three consecutive days to raise an estimated $15,000 for Doctors without Borders. All proceeds will be directed to that group's efforts in Haiti. On Tuesday, Feb. 9, there will be a dineand-donate dinner demonstration at Whole Foods Market Oakville, 301 Cornwall Rd., starting at 6 p.m. Participating in the event are: Cameron's Brewing Company and Malivoire Winery, along with Preena & Arvinda Chauhan (Arvinda's Healthy Gourmet Indian Cooking), Julia Hanna (Julia's Ristorante & Ritorno), Michael Killip (Twisted Fork Restaurant), Chris Klugman (Edward Street Catering), Ron St. Jean, (Whole Foods Market Oakville) and Ben Curtis (Oliver & Bonacini). Entry is a minimum $50 donation, 100 per cent of which will go to Doctors without Borders. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will culminate in a six-course meal. Minimum donation is $100. Representatives from Doctors without Borders will be on hand to describe the current situation in Haiti and answer any questions. The event is at the union's banquet hall located at 2245 Speers Rd. Proceeds from the Local 793 fundraiser will go to the Haiti Earthquake Fund set up by the Canadian Red Cross Society. The agency is providing much-needed medical supplies, vehicles, water and sanitation supplies and telecommunications equipment to help in the humanitarian effort. Dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by a marchéstyle dinner at 7 p.m., and a show featuring illusionist Brian Michaels of Burlington at 8 p.m. Individual tickets for the event cost $200 and a tax receipt will be issued for $150.
