A Union Gas pipeline easement already traverses the site. The Region's proposed extension of James Snow Parkway south from Milton to meet Highway 407 at the Neyagawa Boulevard ramps would also cut through the northeast portion of the conservation area. The Region's proposed realigned Burnhamthorpe Road to connect Fourth Line to Bronte Road would bisect the southwest portion of the conservation area. Finally, it is possible the Region's new trunk sewer connecting Dundas Street and Third Line with the Boyne Pumping Station in Milton will also run through a small section of Map of the Glenorchy Conservation Area in north Oakville. All boundaries approximate. "There are no anticipated construction impacts or surface related features associated with the trunk sewer within the conservation area, as the method of construction is proposed to be subsurface directional drilling," the master plan states. Basit said the sewer would go through only 300 to 500 metres of the conservation area and all of the manholes and service roads to the pipe will be located outside of Glenorchy. The Region has not yet determined which route it will use for its sewer, with a preferred design scheduled to be released as part of an environmental study report in April. However, the longer alternative -- running the sewer down Bronte Road to Dundas -- would cost $14 million more (a total budget of $62 million) than running the sewer through the park, according to Halton's works department.
