The Appleby College grad did not advance past the heats of the men's snowboarding halfpipe Wednesday night at Cypress Mountain, finishing 17th in his preliminary division. The top nine in each heat moved on to the finals. Batchelor, 21, fell on his first run, then skidded out near the bottom of the halfpipe on his second attempt. It did not take Batchelor long to get over the disappointment, however. "I'm kind of not stoked that I didn't get a chance to throw the `Batchelor Roll,'" he said of his signature move. "But now that I'm not moving forward, I'm just wondering where the best place is to go out tonight." Batchelor was considered Canada's best medal hope in men's halfpipe at the Vancouver Games. He won silver at the 2009 world championships. -- With files from Torstar News Service ROUGH LANDING: Jeff Batchelor falls at the end of his second run during Wednesday's men's snowboarding halfpipe heats at the Olympic Winter Games.
