Tamowski's rink, which also included Elaine Voisin, Dan Leier and Brenda Clark, finished the event with a 3-4 record. After a 1-3 start, the Tamowski rink came back to square its record at 3-3 and faced Layne Noble in its final game with a chance to secure a playoff berth. However, Noble won 8-6 and went on to reach the final. Atom Hornets secure provincial bronze Kaitlin Saxton scored in overtime to lift the Oakville atom AA Hornets to a 21 victory over the Kitchener Lady Rangers and the bronze medal at the Ontario Women's Hockey Association provincial champioships last weekend in Brampton. Saxton's goal, set up by a beautiful pass up ice from Isabelle Mastantuono, came while the Hornets were shorthanded. Oakville reached the bronze-medal game by upsetting the league-leading Whitby Wolves 2-1 in the quarter-finals before falling 4-0 to the London Devilettes in the semis. Rough start to auto racing season for Hinchcliffe James Hinchcliffe finished fifth in Sunday's IndyLights race in Birmingham, Alabama. The 23-year-old, driving for Team Moore Racing this season, qualified fifth, but there was little opportunity to pass on the Barber Motorsports Park track. Hinchcliffe earned his first IndyLights pole in the season-opener in St. Petersburg, Florida but his race ended early. Hinchcliffe led the pack into the first turn but rookie Philip Major tried an aggressive pass, hit the brakes too late and rammed into Hinchcliffe, knocking him out of the race.
