Before After 10 porcelain veneers and Zoom!® whitening called the Oakville Fire Department for help. According to Dushko, a call from the public came into the humane society and Amanda Barrett, the officer on duty overnight, went out to the scene. As in the first instance, the rescue took about 90 minutes, but the fire department didn't need to attend after all. The fox pups are from a den located in the ravine area, but with spring arriving early this year and the young foxes are old enough -- six to eight weeks -- to go exploring. Twice, they have ventured into an area where a viaduct canal empties into the creek and got into trouble. Both fox pups became trapped near deep water, filled with algae, which makes the surrounding area very slippery, impeding their ability to get out of trouble and scaring them into howling for help. The area has limited access for humans, so humane society rescuers must keep scaling down into the ravine to assist the pups. By mid-morning Wednesday, the second pup, known to be different than the first because of its smaller size, was at the Toronto Wildlife Centre where the humane society takes rescued wildlife -- getting the once over to ensure it was not injured. Eventually, it will be placed back in its den, as was the last rescued pup. Wildlife Centre, whose staff came out to Oakville and over two days of searching, located the fox den. With evidence of carcasses there, it was believed the fox's parent(s) was still on the scene and caring for the inquisitive young. A fox mother has also been spotted so the humane society will leave the foxes where they are. Barrett, however, returned to the viaduct area on Wednesday morning after the second rescue to do a search to ensure no other pups were in a similar predicament. "Spring is early this year and we're seeing a lot more young wildlife. We'd like to tell members of the public that if they come across an animal, to leave it alone unless it is in imminent danger and to let us know. We'll keep an eye on it for 24 hours and leave it where it is unless there isn't a parent around," said Dushko.
