Anti-drug advocate Paul Christie is visiting three Halton Region District School Board schools this week, including White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville tonight (Wednesday). He will speak from 79 p.m. Christie will share his own struggle to successfully overcome addiction. He will provide tips to parents and students on how to avoid becoming involved with drugs and alcohol. According to Christie's website, 20 years of drug and alcohol abuse led him to a life of crime, homelessness, cheating, stealing, lies, deception, begging for food and waking up in ditches. In 1999, he took control of his life and checked into a rehabilitation clinic. Since then he has turned his life around and has dedicated his time to steering youth from abusing drugs and alcohol.
