Blakelock Tigers in the past two Halton girls' softball finals, the Holy Trinity Titans got a small measure of revenge Monday. Breaking the game open with a four-run rally in the sixth inning, Trinity defeated the Tigers 8-1 at River Oaks Park to improve to 4-0 on the season. Hilary Dawe had the big bat for the Titans, driving in three runs on the afternoon -- two of those RBI coming on a triple to centerfield. That was more than enough for Titans pitchers Kristin Sprukulis and Lauren McLaughlin, who combined to limit Blakelock (3-2) to one second- inning run. Tigers coach Ron Larose readily admits his team isn't as strong this season after losing its top two pitchers to graduation last year, but Trinity coach Lisa Waechter said her club still respects Blakelock. "We're coming off the Iroquois Ridge tournament, where we won gold, but this was the big game," said Waechter. "In league play, this was the big game." The two teams could meet again in the upcoming Halton playoffs, which begin June 2. -- Jon Kuiperij A+ Rating
