Competing in the Premier Division with five other teams, including Oakvilles acade- my B team, the A side clinched gold with a 2- 0 victory over Richmond Hill in the final. Oakville whipped Saltfleet 5-0 in the semi- finals. Members of the team are Angelo Grant, Christian Lopac, Luka Frankovich, Sebastian Guerrieri, Matthew Laic, Christian Leon, Nicolas Noblecilla, Jack Scoular, Lucas Cisnero, Ethan Persad and George Crowne. U10 boys academy team wins tournament in St. Catharines The Oakville Soccer Clubs under-10 boys academy A team won the Roma Tournament. Three local swimmers have been selected to the 52-member team that will represent Canada at the Pan Pacific Championships. Zack Chetrat of the Oakville Aquatic Club and siblings Colin and Sinead Russell of the Dolphins Swim Club will compete at the meet, which will take place Aug. 18-22 in California. This will be a strong meet and will be really exciting with all the top countries, said Pierre Lafontaine, national coach and CEO of Swimming Canada. Its going to be a great way for us to evaluate where were at, two years before the Olympics. Canada earned two gold medals, three silver and two bronze at the last Pan Pacific Championships in 2006. Darragh leads Canada to first place The Oakville Aquatic Clubs Mack Darragh won three gold medals Saturday to help Canadas national youth squad to a first- place finish at the North American Challenge Cup. Competing in the boys 15-16 age group, Darragh won individual golds in the 100- metre breaststroke and 200m individual medley. He was also part of a gold-winning team in the 4x100m medley relay. Canada finished with 1,807.5 points at the three-day age group meet. Southern California Swimming was second with 1,596.5 points. Bantam Titans hand out awards The Oakville Titans bantam football team concluded its inaugural rep season with an awards night last Friday. Award winners included Brendan OHara (Progress Award for most improved player), Sam Redden (Grit Award for hardest worker), Mac Vanduzer (Collision Award for hardest hitter), Cole Vincent (Playmaker Award for most opportunistic player), Hayden Corbett and Jung-Mo An (defensive MVPs), Marcus Membrere (offensive MVP), Kimbal Mackenzie (team MVP) and Kiana Bales (Titan of the Year for character and lead- ership). The Titans went 4-3-1 in their first year competing in tier one of the Ontario Football Conference. The team will follow a house league format for the fall season and then return to rep football next spring.
