A small dog, Gizmo, named after the Gremlins creature it resembles, has gone missing somewhere in the area south of Sheridan College and north of the Queen Elizabeth Way. The dogs owner, Virginia Day, let the dog out into the backyard Sunday at around 6:20 a.m. However, the gate she always closes at night, by some chance, was open that morning and the dog disap- peared. Day lives in the North Service Road and Truman Avenue area. The miniature Schnauzer-Yorkshire terrier was reportedly seen heading north on Sixth Line at McCraney Street on Tuesday night. It is grey and white with a black stripe on its back. Because the 13-year-old Gizmo has a collapsing trachea it is unable to wear a collar for long periods and was not wearing it at the time it disappeared. Day said the dog will be scared of people and if he is seen in someones backyard it is best to leave him, hoping he will stay hiding in one place, and to contact her or the Oakville and Milton Humane Society. Day said she will rush over and pick up Gizmo immediately. Day can be reached at 905-617-9425 and the humane societys number is 905-845-1551.
