Shaarei-Beth El congregation is holding an open house on Sunday, Sept. 12 to show people its religious school. Families will be able to meet others, the rabbi and the director of education. The open house starts at 11 a.m. and at noon there will be a barbecue lunch to celebrate the Jewish New Year, which this year lands on the night of Sept. 8 and continues through the Day of Atonement, also known as Yom Kippur, which begins at sundown on Sept. 17. Weve been in Oakville for 55 years, but there are many in this community who dont know we are here said Rabbi Wise, in a press release. Its the rabbis 4th year with the congregation. We want to open our doors to the community to see what our syna- gogue has to offer. The synagogue is also partici- pating in Open Doors Oakville on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its part of a program taking place across town and the province. It offers an opportunity to visit various sites of cultural, religious and historical significance and its the first year a synagogue is partic- ipating. For more information visit www.sbe.ca.
