WWF Canada president and CEO Gerald Butts will speak at the Oakville Conference Centre on Thursday, Nov, 18. The event, titled Beyond Climate Change: A New Agenda for Conservation in Canada, is hosted by the Canadian Club of Halton Peel. Butts will speak on the issues the WWF has focused on that involve Canada taking a lead- ership role to help secure the future of biodi- versity and the survival of life on earth. The WWFs top priorities are climate, water and people. Butts was born in Nova Scotia in 1971 where he developed an interest in marine con- servation and the environment. He was a pro- fessor of literature, communications and polit- ical science at McGill and York universities and joined WWF in 2008. Registration and cash bar opens at 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. The three-course din- ner, with the presentation is $30 for members, $40 for non-members and there is a subsidized fee of $15 for students.
